UPDATE: T.F. District BLM Cancels Today’s Open House

TWIN FALLS — The Twin Falls District Bureau of Land Management had planned an open house from 4-6 p.m. Jan. 27 at its new office building, but has since canceled today's event.

The reason for the cancellation is due to events in Oregon, said BLM spokeswoman Heather Tiel-Nelson, where a weeks-long armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge escalated Tuesday when protest leader Ammon Bundy was arrested and another leader was killed.

She said the agency wanted to "rely on an abundance of caution" as these events unfold.

"We look forward to having the community visit the new Twin Falls office and we will reschedule for a date in the near future,” said Brian Amme, acting district manager.

Last fall, 60 BLM staff members from three different local offices moved into the new building. Beside consolidating these offices, the new building will accommodate the addition of 30-40 seasonal fire and natural resource staff during the summer.
