TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) The Twin Falls School District Board has voted to move ahead and ask voters to continue a multi-million dollar a year supplemental levy.

The board met Monday evening and eventually voted unanimously to continue funding which makes up a little less than ten percent of the budget for the district. One board member made a motion to ask for a little less than what was recommended. The levy would operate for two years for a total of $8.5 million. Earlier this month the Budget Advisory Committee made the recommendation to seek voter approval once again for the funding. The current levy funding is $9 million.

The district said in a news release that the levy will help with new curriculum materials, the nationwide teacher and local labor shortage, and keeping the current level of operations. Voters in Twin Falls first approved the supplemental levies in 2011.  The district estimates the levy will cost the same, however because of an increase in the tax base, property owners will not pay as much.
