Winter Weather Advisory in Effect in Parts of Magic Valley
BURLEY, Idaho (KLIX) – The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that will be in effect until 6 p.m. today in eastern Magic Valley and eastern Idaho.
“Snow and strong winds will result in difficult driving conditions due to slick roads and/or low visibility,” according to the NWS. Snow is expected to move east later in the day and “winds will remain strong.”
Up to 2 inches of snow may be expected in eastern Magic Valley and 1 to 3 inches in the southern highlands, with higher accumulation possible in the bench areas.
The NWS says that winds will be strongest along and south of Interstates 84 and 86, with some gusts exceeding 60 mph in the south-central highlands.
Affected areas include Burley, American Falls, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Malta, Conner, Rockland, Sweetzer Summit, Malad Summit and Holbrook Summit.
“Use caution when traveling,” the NWS says, “especially in open areas.”
