UPDATE: As of 3:18 pm, Idaho Power reports that the power has been restored to the affected areas.

The Idaho Power Company reports 1,649 customers in Jerome and Gooding are without power this afternoon due to an accident.

A dump truck delivering a load of gravel accidentally struck a power line that affects customers in both Jerome and Gooding counties at around 2:45 pm this afternoon.

According to Idaho Power, customers in Gooding County between 2300 and 2400 East and 3700 to 3800 South are without power. In Jerome County, the area affected includes those living 200 south to 625 south and 400 east to 500 West.

The accident was reported at 165 East and 500 South. There are no reports of injuries. Idaho Power crews are working to establish power to those customers.
