Twin Falls County Commissioner Jack Johnson is promoting the notion of a first line of defense on campuses

Garden Valley Schools are also making it publicly known an attempt at an attack on school grounds could be unfortunate for any wild-eyed criminal.  Someone will be ready to return fire.

Twin Falls County Commissioner Jack Johnson is promoting the notion of a first line of defense on campuses.

You can read his proposal, which he posted on Facebook, below:

WARNING- Controversial thought!
I have advocated for a long time that School Trustees should utilize Idaho Code 18-3302(D) and 18-3302(C) and allow willing staff to be armed as an immediate first line of defense for our students. I know that our local Law Enforcement will be more than willing to train staff members. This is an action locally that can be put into place without Federal oversight that could potentially save lives. There are no absolutes in anything we do, however, we have an opportunity to provide a potentially safer environment for our students. I am more than willing to help facilitate this locally if School Districts are interested. I believe it is time to start this discussion, whether this is the answer, or metal detectors and retired LE is the answer. Thank you and have a great day!”
