KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, will offer a direct flight between the central Idaho resort city of Sun Valley and Portland, Oregon, starting this winter.

The Idaho Mountain Express reports that starting Dec. 17 and continuing until April 1, passengers will be able to fly between Portland and the Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey. This will be the sixth nonstop flight to Friedman Memorial Airport as passengers can also fly directly to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City and Denver.

The flight reflects growing tourism for Sun Valley from the west coast. The nonprofit Fly Sun Valley Alliance helped secure the flight with a $500,000 grant to boost air service provided to Friedman Memorial Airport from the U.S. Department of Transportation earlier this month.
