Attorney General: Magic Valley Man Arrested in Child Pornography Case
BOISE, Idaho (News Release) – Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden says investigators have arrested and charged a man from Declo on three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Wasden said investigators from his Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit arrested 31-year-old Dustin Roy Penrod Tuesday. Wasden praised authorities from the Cassia County Sheriff’s Department and the Cassia County Prosecutor’s Office for working closely with ICAC investigators on the case.
Investigators focused on Penrod after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a suspect allegedly trading child pornography images and video on the Internet.
Last month, investigators received consent from Penrod to examine a laptop computer. After later obtaining a search warrant, forensic investigators determined the computer had been used to share and trade child pornographic images electronically.
Penrod was arrested at his workplace Tuesday. He was arraigned Wednesday and bond was set at $250,000.
The Idaho Attorney General's ICAC Unit is a coalition of state and local law enforcement agencies that work with the ICAC Task Force to investigate and prosecute individuals who use the Internet to criminally exploit children.
