Bellevue Man Trying to Cross Road Struck in Face by Car Mirror
BELLEVUE, Idaho (KLIX)-A man was flown to a Boise hospital when he was hit in the face by a side view mirror on an SUV when he tried to cross an icy road in Bellevue on Sunday.
According to the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, 72-year-old Manuel Chavez-Silva, of Bellevue, was hit by a Ford Explorer at around 10:24 a.m. as he jumped from a tractor parked along Baseline Road and tried to cross to the other side to open a gate. The driver of the SUV, Sergio Vallepasillas, 22, also of Bellevue, tried to stop, but couldn't in time because of ice on the road and hit the man.
Chavez-Silva was first taken to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and then flown to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with non-life threatening injuries. Vallepasillas and his passengers were not injured.
