TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The city will be one step closer to a new City Hall once officials swing sledgehammers in a ceremonial wall-breaking event Tuesday at the Banner Building in downtown.

The community event is in conjunction with the State of the City address, which begins at noon Tuesday, April 12. Afterward, city council members will take the first swings at the building, starting the repurposing project for the new City Hall. Members of the community may also participate, but should wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the event.

During construction, city staff and services will be temporarily located on the northeast corner of Main Avenue and Shoshone Street, 103 Main Ave. E. The Planning and Zoning, Building and Engineering departments will remain in the existing offices at 324 Hansen St. until the new City Hall is finished sometime in the summer of 2017.
