Thunderstorms Could Cause Extreme Fire Danger For The Western Magic Valley [Red Flag Warning]
A storm system is moving in to southwest Idaho that will bring showers and numerous thunderstorms through late tonight. Storms are expected to produce rain, wind gusts up to 50 mph, abundant lightning, and create explosive fire growth potential.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the southern Highlands and Western Magic Valley for scattered thunderstorms, abundant lightning through midnight.
The Red Flag Warning calls for:
- Winds up to 50 mph
- Small hail is also possible
- Abundant lightning
- Increased Wildfire Danger

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential through southern Idaho.
