More smoke filled the skies over the Magic valley yesterday thanks to a couple of new fires. The first fire broke out at around 1:30 yesterday afternoon two miles north of Wendell. The BLM says the fire started in a salvage yard  and is human caused. Over five thousand acres along highway 46 have been charred so far. No structures were threatened, but the blaze did burn several vehicles and piles of scrap in the yard. Several agencies responded to the blaze. Firefighters hope to have it contained sometime tonight. Meanwhile another fire broke out at around 5:30 near Hazleton. That fire is near mile post 179 and had burned about 400 acres as of ten o'clock last night.
