Flood Warning Remains in Effect for Parts of South-central Idaho
BURLEY, Idaho (KLIX) – A flood warning, issued Tuesday by the National Weather Service, remains in effect in several counties in south-central Idaho until about noon on Friday.

The advisory was issued due to rain and snowmelt in Blaine, Cassia, Lincoln and Minidoka counties, according to the Pocatello office of the NWS. Areas that may see continued flooding include Acequia, Albion, Almo, Burly, Declo, Dietrich, Heyburn, Idaho, Malta, Minidoka, Oakley, Paul, Richfield, Rupert and Shoshone.
“Excessive runoff will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots,” the advisory reads. Remember the motto “Turn around, don`t drown” when encountering flooded roads. “Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings, which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.
