French Fries Maker to Begin $200 Million Expansion in Burley
BURLEY, Idaho (KLIX) A frozen French fries maker plans a major expansion in the Mini-Cassia area this year. McCain Foods USA announced it will pump more than $200 million into the Burley plant to expand the potato processing factory. McCain says it will create upwards of 180 new jobs for the area.
McCain has been a part of the Burley community since the 1960’s” said Jeff DeLapp, Regional President, North America “This investment will bring more jobs, continued partnerships with local potato growers and expanded capacity to meet increasing demand for McCain products”
The company says the Burley expansion is just one of several recent investments in other production facilities in the United State and Canada. According to the Office of Lt. Governor Brad Little, the economic impact from the McCain project is expected to generate an estimated $560 million in the next 20 years.
Construction is slated for later this month with completion in about a year. The Lt. Governor's office expects construction to create 200 jobs alone. The Canadian based company has operated in Burley for about 20 years and has 51 factories around the world.
