Grizzly Killed for Attacking East Idaho Sheep
ISLAND PARK, Idaho (KLIX)- Idaho wildlife officials euthanized a bear responsible for killing seven sheep in the eastern part of the state.
According to a press release by Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the 26-year old grizzly was put down Saturday for the sheep killing during three separate attacks in what is known as the Moose Creek area.
Officials say the grizzly had been trapped 23 years ago for scientific studies and hadn't been known for any prior conflicts until now.
Fish and Game says the bear was killed with permission from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service's permission.
Examination of the bear found that it had lost all of the upper teeth and most of lower ones were not in good health. IDFG biologists believe that is the reason the bear killed the sheep.
