Highway Project Backs Up Traffic on I-84
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – If you plan to be anywhere near the Interstate 84 and U.S. Highway 93 interchange today, leave early and expect delays.
Traffic has been backed up this afternoon near the interchange due to a seal coating project.
The good news is that traffic congestion should be lighter after today, according to Idaho Transportation Department spokesman Nathan Jerke.
“These are the only days of this significant traffic impact,” he told News Radio 1310. “Work will continue tomorrow (Thursday) but there will not be any lane closures for that portion of work, as they will be sweeping the excess rocks from the roadway before striping later on.”
He said other highway projects in the valley are, for the most part, moving forward as expected.
“A couple projects are a little behind schedule, but not by more than a few days, which is generally not enough to be a significant problem,” Jerke said. “The big projects to reconstruct or pave sections of I-84 in Jerome County are progressing pretty well and generally following the contractors’ schedules.”
