Halloween is fast approaching, and with it comes scary movie season. Many of us enjoy Halloween movies for different reasons. Some like lighthearted movies such as Casper, Hocus Pocus, or Halloweentown, while others like horror, gore, and scarier ones, like Saw, Halloween, or Friday the 13th. While some of us enjoy the gore and death and how scary they would be to experience, it got me thinking, what would be the scariest ways to die in Twin Falls and the Magic Valley?

Base Jumping of the Perrine Bridge Gone Wrong

Base jumping off the Perrine Bridge is a favorite activity for some in the area and many come from far away to base jump off the bridge. Over the years there have been some tragic accidents, and you know it had to be scary for the base jumpers that experienced it. The thought of falling that far at that speed, but still having time to think is terrifying. Unfortunately, this is something that has happened far too many times. Do not attempt this without professional or proper training.

Drowning or Washed Away in the Snake River

Anytime somebody enters a river with a strong current, something can go wrong, but it doesn't stop many of us from getting out onto the Snake River in the summer to enjoy some fun water activities or fishing. Imagine if something goes wrong and you get washed away. Fighting against a current is a struggle that is hard to overcome, and panic will set in the harder you fight without success. The thought of being washed away and ultimately going under would be a scary way to go and is one you hope you or your loved ones never experience.

Picture going out into the wild for a hike. You are walking along and out of nowhere a moose or a giant elk charge you and decides to attack and stomp on you. The pain and suffering would be bad, but if internal injuries didn't get you quick, you'd have to wonder if you could get out of the woods or wait for someone to find you.

With ice caves and many caves to explore around the state, it is not unheard of for people to get lost or fall and be unable to get out. One of the worst cases and fears for many is that you turn somewhere and fall into a deep hole you can't get out of or perhaps in a narrow area you can't get out of. Due to the dry conditions, these fires are spreading quickly, and catching a house on fire is not unheard of. Being caught in a blazing fireball inside your home is a nightmare most hope to never experience. The smoke fills your lungs, the heat is unbearable and fear begins to sink in. For many, the thought of a home fire is one of the scariest things that could happen.

With Idaho winds being so strong at different times throughout the year, they can get so strong that they can move cars and semi-trucks. With the trailers blowing back and forth, especially on bridges and around cliffs, one of them going over the side and pulling the rest of the vehicle with it would be terrifying. Multiple cars could go with it, and like base jumping, it gives you time to think as your car falls to the bottom. Being stuck inside your vehicle with nowhere to go and hoping for the best is a way nobody wants to end their life.

While hunting accidents happen every year and few are fatal, they do happen from time to time. Usually, when this unfortunate situation occurs it is a misfire or some kind of gun malfunction and the life ends quickly. There are occurrences when somebody is out hunting alone and they break their leg, an animal attacks them, or something rare occurs stranding them. Typically where most people are hunting there is no service and being alone with no hope in sight can be a dreadful way to spend your final moments. The cold, an animal, hunger, dehydration, and several reasons could ultimately end things. With most knowing you are hunting, help is unlikely to come in time.

Temperatures in the winter in Idaho typically stay below freezing and stay there for months at a time. It is not uncommon to see a few days or weeks go below zero degrees which make freezing a real possibility if you are stranded or lose a source of heat. One slip or one miscalculation on a jump, and somebody could hit their head, their back, their leg, or any other part of their body. This can lead to drowning or dying from the injuries suffered. Hopefully, jumpers continue to land safely in the water and this is something none of us have to witness or experience.
