May has already been a deadly month on Idaho roads, as the number of deaths reported by ISP in vehicle accidents has risen to 12.

Many of those deaths were in a fiery tour bus accident near Yellowstone National Park, but 4 of the deaths have been motorcycle riders.

Deadly Crash on Idaho Highway South of Twin Falls: 2 Motorcyclists Killed

In a news release on Thursday, the Idaho State Police shared details of a fatal accident in the Magic Valley between two motorcycles.

The accident happened on May 7th at 7:18 PM on State Highway 74 at the Sommer Street intersection, which is an entrance to the Magic Valley Ranch subdivision. Details of the crash are shared in the report:

A 23-year-old male, from Twin Falls, ID, was driving eastbound on SH74 at Sommers St. on a 2005 Yamaha Motorcycle.

The Yamaha was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Sommers St. when it collided with a 2024 KTM motorcycle driving eastbound on SH74.

The KTM was driven by a 25-year-old male, from Buhl, ID.

Both motorcycle drivers were wearing helmets when the accident happened, but were pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

Idaho State Police had assistance at the crash from the Twin Falls County Sheriff, Twin Falls Fire Department, Magic Valley Paramedics, Air St. Luke’s, and Classic Air.

The accident is under investigation.

Last year, there were 16 deadly motorcycle accidents in Idaho, resulting in 18 deaths.
