As a southern Idaho resident, if you think this summer has been a hot one, you haven't felt the kind of heat that's coming next week in quite a while.

As humans, we are never really satisfied with the temperature. It's either too hot or too cold for most of us. Whenever temperatures climb to near triple digits, it's a good idea to make plans to reach the nearest water source as quickly as possible.

No one in the Magic Valley will be immune to hot temperatures next week. The longest, most intense heatwave of 2025 is expected to bear down on south Idaho beginning Saturday, July 26. Temperatures will average 97 degrees for at least six days following the final weekend of July, according to weather.com.

Saturday, July 26 through August 1 is forecasted to be the longest, warmest heatwave in some time, according to the current outlook. The hottest days are expected to be July 29 and 30, which will bring temperatures to the brink of 100 degrees.
