MURTAUGH, Idaho (KLIX) – A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital this afternoon after being injured in a silo.

Emergency crews, which included the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Creek Fire Department and Magic Valley Paramedics, responded at around 12:40 p.m. to the site at Archer and Third Street in Murtaugh.

According to the sheriff’s office, while working at a silo owned by Pure Grain Commodities, the teen took a step backward when his leg became caught in the auger.

Paramedics treated him at the scene, but because of the difficulty of getting a stretcher to him firefighters had to cut a hole in the silo.

The boy was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise.
