Newest Section of the Twin Falls Tail System to Open Friday

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) More than a mile long section of new Canyon Rim Trail system is set to open to the public Friday in Twin Falls. According to City Spokesperson Josh Palmer, the walking and biking public will be able to go past the Evel Knievel jump site to the west to access the new 1.6 mile connector trail.

Access from the east at the corner of Pole Line Road and Eastland Drive won't happen for several more days. Palmer says there is a small section that needs gravel to connect it with the existing trail requiring people to go back the way they came if they get on the trail from the Evel Knievel jump; the section will be paved later. The city wants to remind people using the new trail to stay on it and respect the private properties that line it on either side.

Also, dogs are to remain on a leash on any trail or public park (except Baxter's Dog Park) within the city of Twin Falls. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will be planned for later. Once the trail is fully connected the public will be able to travel from Washington Street north along the canyon to Dierkes Lake on foot or a bike.
