Police Arrest Suspect in Jerome Shooting Case
JEROME -- Police have arrested the suspect involved in a suspicious, early morning shooting Sunday that injured a young woman riding in the front seat of a car. KTVB reports that police say 21-year-old Victor Emmanuel Garcia was arrested early Wednesday morning at a home in Twin Falls, and charged with the misdemeanor discharge of a firearm. Garcia is wanted in connection with the shooting of 21-year-old Kendra Adams of Jerome. Police Chief Dan Hall says he believes Garcia likely shot Adams sometime around 1:30 a.m. Sunday near Main Street in Jerome. More specifically, Hall says Garcia is suspected of shooting Adams in the back with a 9mm handgun. Hall says the shooting happened as Garcia was sitting in the back seat of the car, and Adams was sitting in the front. Witnesses told police that Garcia fled the scene shortly afterward. Chief Hall says Adams was taken to St. Luke's Medical Center in Twin Falls. Police say while the shooting was likely accidental, officers are currently investigating the shooting as a possible crime. The family of Kendra Adams tells KTVB that she underwent emergency surgery after the shooting, and had part of her small intestine removed. Adams is said to be currently recovering at home.
