Semi Swerves Off I-84 and Rolls to Avoid Slowing Traffic Near Hazelton

HAZELTON, Idaho (PRESS RELEASE)-On July 12, 2016, at 3:40 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 84, near milepost 195, just east of Hazelton, ID

James E. Klauser, 60, of Twin Falls, ID, was driving eastbound in a construction area on Interstate 84 in a 2016 Freightliner pulling a 1997 trailer.  Interstate traffic ahead had slowed.  Klauser was unable to stop, and swerved into the steep median on his right to avoid a collision.  Klauser's vehicle rolled onto its right side in the median.  There was no blockage caused by this crash.

Klauser was wearing a seatbelt.  He was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
