Septuagenarian in Ada County Pleads Guilty to Distributing Meth
BOISE, Idaho – A 77-year-old man from Ada County has pleaded guilty to drug crimes.
Pursuant to a written plea agreement filed with the court, Boise resident Clinton DeWitt Bays Jr. pleaded guilty to distributing more than 50 grams of actual methamphetamine, according to U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis.
Court records show that while out on bond on state court charges for drug trafficking and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, Bays sold four ounces of methamphetamine to an undercover officer, Davis explained in a news release on Tuesday.
Bays faces a statutory mandatory minimum sentence of at least 10 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $10,000,000 fine, and at least five years of supervised release.
Davis said Bays will be sentenced on Feb. 19, 2020, in Boise. He remains in-custody, pending sentencing.
