Voters in six school districts in the Magic Valley will be going to the polls to decide on supplemental levies.  The Cassia County School District is asking for just over $681,000 per year for two years. The money goes into the school district’s general fund.  Hansen School District is asking for a renewal of its annual $190,000 levy.  Voters in the Jerome School District will vote on the renewal

The construction of an 1100 mile power transmission line from Wyoming and across Idaho is meeting with more resistance.  Cassia County Commissioners are supporting a letter to state officials that the power line is “unnecessary and ill advised.”

A former Burley school teacher is scheduled for sentencing in June after pleading guilty to felony sex abuse of a minor under 16.  42 year old Michael Brinkerhoff was in Cassia County Fifth District  Court yesterday.

Voters in the Twin Falls School district will be heading to the polls today.   At issue is a two year school levy of $7.5 million dollars. That means for a home valued at $150,000 it would be about an additional $100 a year on that property tax bill.
