Twin Falls Police Share What Drinking And Driving Can Do ‘Every 15 minutes’

For the 27th time, the Twin Falls Police Department participated in the "Every 15 Minutes" program. The program aims to teach teens the consequences of drinking and driving before they get to the age to be able to do so. 

The Every 15 Minutes Program Teaches Students About Bad Choices

The program aims to show teens what could possibly happen if they decided to drink and drive or get in a car with someone who is impaired. They put together real-life scenarios and act them out to give a realistic experience. They even come and take a student from the classroom every 15 minutes to symbolize another teen killed in a drunk driving accident.

The Types Of Interactions That Happen With Students

The Twin Falls High School students that were taken by the "Grim Reaper" every 15 minutes were no longer allowed to interact with others. They were returned to class with "living dead" makeup and uniformed officers make mock death notifications to the parents of the children so they can see what it would do to the people they leave behind.

The Simulated Traffic Collision

There is a simulated traffic collision complete with fake blood and lots of drama. It also incorporates texting and driving into the program. The coroner handles the "fatalities" on scene and the jaw of life is manned to get the students out.

Overall it is an experience to try to teach students some of the awful things that could happen if they decide to drink and drive, or text and drive. And the Twin Falls police participated for the 27th time. Thank you officers for taking time to teach these teens!
