SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho (KLIX)-A Spirit Lake man died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in north Idaho after one of the cars crossed into the other lane.

According to Idaho State Police, several other people were taken to the hospital, including a juvenile passenger who had to be flown by helicopter when a Chevy Traverse crossed the center line and hit a Ford pickup shortly before 11:30 a.m. about six miles north of Spirit Lake; the SUV went into a ditch and overturned.

ISP said John Hampton, 50, was killed, he was the driver of the Chevrolet, his passengers Dawn Hampton, 39, and a juvenile were taken to Kootenai Health; the other juvenile was flown to Sacred Heart hospital. The driver of the Ford was not injured. Everyone had been wearing a seat belt.
