Blackfoot Woman Gets A Year in Prison for Lying to FBI
A Blackfoot woman will have to spend about a year behind bars for telling a lie to the Federal Bureau of Investigator last year after she accidentally ran someone over with a car.
According to U.S. Attorney Bart Davis, Olivia Sabrina Jay, 23, was sentenced to a year and one day in federal prison for making a false statement to a federal officer. Jay will also have to serve three years of supervised release once out of prison; she entered a guilty plea in June of this year. In September of 2019 Fort Hall Police responded to home on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation after a person was run over by a car and was severely injured.
Police talked to Jay who said a drunk man had ran over the victim on purpose. An FBI Special agent later spoke to Jay and she again said someone else had run the victim over on purpose. A witness eventually told police that Jay had been driving the car and she admitted to accidentally running over the victim.
