BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) A former doctor and current businessman  is making a run for the office of Idaho governor.

Dr. Tommy Ahlquist made his bid for the states top seat officials during a stop in three cities, including Kimberly. Ahlquist, in a press release, says he is a conservative Republican, small businessman, builder, and former emergency room doctor. Ahlquist also planned on meeting community members in Idaho Falls, and Coeur d'Alene this week.

I’m running for Governor because I believe in Idahoans, and I believe with fresh ideas and new leadership we can build an even better Idaho,” said Ahlquist in a prepared statement. “My career in business and medicine has taught me valuable lessons about the role of government, the failures of overregulation and an appreciation for hard working Idahoans. As your Governor, I will put these real-world experiences to use serving Idahoans."

Ahlquist serves on the Boise Chamber Board of Directors, United Way Treasure Valley Board, Treasure Valley Leadership Alliance, Idaho 2020 Board of Directors and is the President of the FACES of HOPE Victim’s Center Foundation Board of Directors.

Ahlquist released a video that can be found on his website www.TommyforIdaho.com that you can watch below:
