CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man has been sentenced to at least 16 years in prison for abusing two children.

KIVI-TV reports that 3rd District Judge George Southworth sentenced Bryce Cody Transue, 31, of Caldwell, on Tuesday. He was charged with two felony counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16 and one felony count of sexual abuse of a minor under 16. The judge also ordered Transue to register as a sex offender.

Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor says that the investigation began after an 11-year-old girl told her school counselor that Transue had sexually abused her and she thought she might be pregnant. Officials then determined that Transue had also sexually abused a six-year-old. Southworth said Tuesday the case one of the worst sexual offenses he had overseen.
