Crash on Highway 30 Sends Kimberly Police Officer to Hospital
KIMBERLY, Idaho (KLIX)-A police officer with the city of Kimberly was sent to the hospital Monday afternoon when his patrol car was hit by another car.
According to Idaho State Police (ISP), Officer Tyson Damron had been headed east in a patrol car at around 3:42 p.m. on U.S. Highway 30 when he was hit at the intersection of N 3400 by a newer Toyota Corolla driven by Hope Johnson, 20, of Twin Falls. Both cars ended up on the southbound shoulder of the highway.
Damron had not been wearing a seat belt and taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, Johnson was wearing a seat belt. ISP said Johnson had stopped at the stop sign at Highway 30 but failed to yield the right of way to the officer. Part of the roadway was blocked for about two hours. Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office and Magic Valley Fire also responded to the crash.
