Deflated Tire Causes Rollover Near American Falls, Kimberly Man Flown to Hospital
AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- A deflated tire is thought to be the cause of a crash on Interstate 86 that sent several Kimberly residents to the hospital Friday afternoon.
According to Idaho State Police, Antonio Chapa Jr., 40, of Kimberly, was headed to east on the interstate in a Nissan Titan pickup when one of its tires deflated just after 4 p.m.. That caused the driver to lose control of the pickup which went into the media and rolled. Chapa was not wearing a seatbelt and thrown from the vehicle. He had to be flown by air ambulance to an eastern Idaho hospital.
Two juvenile passengers in the pickup were wearing seatbelts and taken by ground ambulance to an American Falls hospital. The interstate’s westbound lane was blocked for about three and a half hours.
