Elko Man Injured Protecting Children from Dog
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — An Elko man was seriously injured while protecting children from a dog that was attacking.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that three children were playing Tuesday when a neighbor's dog got loose and went to attack them. A man intervened and was bitten by the dog.
Elko police Lt. Ty Trouten says another neighbor came on the scene and shot the dog, killing it. The child in a stroller, 2-year-old and 4-year-old were not injured during the attack.
The man who was bitten was bleeding when police arrived on scene. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Trouten says the owner of the dog, which was described as a pit bull or English bulldog, could face criminal charges of having a vicious dog running at large.
