BOISE, Idaho (KLIX)-A former Idaho County Sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to a maximum sentence of 15-years behind bars for sexual abuse of a minor.

According Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, on Monday Dec. 9, Second Judicial District Judge Gregory FitzMaurice sentenced Nicholas Harris, 34, to 10 years fixed and five years indeterminate after he pleaded guilty to the crime in September. Harris admitted to investigators he sexaully abused an underage girl in December of 2018 in Idaho County.

He also admitted to abusing the same victim in two other states during a four year period. Harris had faced two adittional counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16, which were dropped as part of a plea deal. Harris must register as a sex offender once out of prison and he was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine to the victim.
