Former Lincoln County Sheriff Found Guilty on Sex Abuse Charges

HAILEY, Idaho (KLIX)-The former sheriff of Lincoln County is now waiting to be sentenced next year after being found guilty on multiple sex abuse charges in Blaine County.

The Idaho Attorney General's office confirmed the jury came back last Friday with six guilty verdicts against Rene Rodriguez, his sentencing will be in March of 2020. Rodriguez had served as the police chief for the city of Shoshone before being elected as sheriff in 2016.

Rodriguez was placed on administrative leave earlier this year before being arrested in April and charged with rape, sexual abuse of a child under 16 and lewd conduct with a minor.
