Hailey Residents Sentenced For Poaching
The Idaho Fish and Game Department says two men from Hailey have received fines and penalties after being caught poaching in Custer County. A total of 49 citations and 21 warnings were issued to seven individuals this week by Custer County Magistrate Judge Charles L. Roos. 44 year old Juan Pasillas-Garcia of Hailey, was sentenced to 540 days in jail with all but 40 suspended. He also must pay over $3,200 in fines and fees and his hunting, fishing and trapping privileges were suspended for 15 years. He also forfeited two firearms to Fish and Game and was put on four years probation. 30 year old Jose Pasillas-Garcia of Hailey, pleaded guilty to failing to produce game for inspection. He was given a 30-day suspended jail sentence and fined $570. He was also was sentenced to two years of probation and will be required to complete 40 hours of community service. In the same case, four other men, all from out of state, were each sentenced to serve jail time, received thousands of dollars in fines and lost hunting privileges. Fish and Game reports their investigators worked around the clock to catch the poachers, who have been hunting illegally in Idaho for years.
