TWIN FALLS, Id. (KMVT/KSVT) Several Idaho State Police troopers joined in a pursuit near Hollister Monday afternoon that was later terminated at the Idaho/Nevada border. The chase started near Hollister at around 1:20 p.m. on U.S. Highway 93. Originally, a State trooper attempted to stop the vehicle due to speed.

During the chase, the suspect vehicle reached speeds of over 100 mph. Authorities retrieved a package that was thrown out the window. While it’s not been confirmed, it’s believed the package contained a half-pound of marijuana. When the chase crossed over the Idaho/Nevada border, the Idaho State Police called the chase off, turning it over to Nevada officials. State Troopers in Nevada then took the pursuit over. Officials say they did deploy spike strips, but the suspect drove around.

Nevada officials say speeds reached well over 100 mph during the chase. When the vehicle was about 12 miles north of Wells, Nev., the car’s driver turned on a dirt road where the vehicle became stuck in the mud. The chase extended over 65 miles through Idaho and Nevada. Nevada officials say there were two people in the car. Both were taken into custody without incident.

The driver was identified as Ken Franklin, 38, from California. The passenger was identified as Paul Overlee. At this time the officials from Nevada are continuing to investigate the incident.
