We did some fact checking and found the number of stay-at-home dads in Idaho.

It wasn't too long ago that the thought of Dad staying home to raise the kids while Mom worked was simply unheard of.  Today, it's becoming more and more the norm. Take a look at South Dakota. At 39 percent, more than one in every three dads are considered be of the stay-at-home variety.

In 2014, Idaho reported 11,674 stay-at-home dads. That's about 16 percent; which doesn't sound like much, but when you think of it, you're looking about one in every six Idaho dads is a stay-at-home father.

What's also interesting is the number of stay-at-home dads isn't entirely dependent on the state's unemployment rates, suggesting that many dads are staying home to raise the kids more by choice than necessity.

Further, this report also notes that the definition of a stay-at-home father is narrow, and excluded same sex partners and single fathers, among others.  So, there could actually be more stay-at-home dads than what's being reported.
