One Dead After Police Chase in Multiple Counties
(KLIX) - The Idaho State Police Department held a press conference at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, regarding a chase that happened earlier today.
Idaho State Patrol says at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday Ada County police stopped a vehicle in a traffic stop on Interstate 84. Authorities did not pursue the vehicle after it fled from the traffic stop but later found that the person driving the vehicle, the suspect, could have been involved in two kidnappings. Once police found the suspect was armed and dangerous and also had a felony warrant out for his arrest, police tried to locate the vehicle once again.
At 11:34 a.m. Elmore County deputies, Idaho State Police, and Gooding County sheriff's deputies found the vehicle. A chase began and it included high speeds, along with driving the wrong way between Bliss and Wendell.
The chase ended north of Wendell, when the suspect's vehicle was no longer working, as it was disabled. The suspect then stole a pickup truck at gunpoint and fled.
Shots were fired at the suspect and the chase ended near a dairy in Wendell (Gooding County). When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect was incapacitated and died at the scene. No police officers or public were hurt in the incident.
This is an ongoing investigation and further information will come from the Twin Falls Police Department. If you have any information about the chase, call the Twin Falls Police Department at 208-735-7200.
