Idaho Unemployment Dropped in March
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) Unemployment in the Gem state fell one tenth of a percent in March. The Idaho Department of Labor says the rate went from 3.5% to 3.6% making March the 78th month with over-the-year labor force gains. During March, the Department of Labor says they found a drop in the labor force of 600 workers that combined with 500 fewer people looking for work.
Some Highlights:
- Nonfarm job growth increased 2.7%, 18,700, in March
- Construction had 3,000 jobs, 7.4%
- Education and health counted 3,300 jobs, 3.3%
- 22 out of 44 counties had higher unemployment rates than did the state over all.
In northern Idaho, Lewiston has the strongest over-the-year job growth of 4.7%, or 1,300 jobs. Boise was right behind with a 3.5% increase, or 10,700 jobs.
