Jerome Sheriff Search for Possible Hostage Situation, Find Nothing
JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) Jerome Sheriff's officials and Twin Falls County SWAT spent the morning searching for a reported hostage situation at area hotels.
According to Jerome County Sheriff Doug McFall they didn't find anything. SIRCOMM received the call this morning at around 3 a.m. from a man claiming he was holding a woman hostage in Jerome at a hotel. Sheriff McFall said a woman could be heard at one point in the background. Deputies along with help from the Twin Falls County SWAT team cleared two hotels near the Interstate 84 and Highway 93 interchange.
Each room was gone through to locate a suspect. McFall said a hotel in Jerome was also searched and nothing was found. A specific name was given and authorities located someone matching the name, but it turned out to be a false lead. The sheriff said they were not able to track the phone the call came in on. McFall said they are looking into the possibility of the incident being a prank call.
