Meridian Man Charged with Wife’s Murder
MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man has been charged with first-degree murder after police say he dialed 911 and said he killed his wife.
Forty-two-year-old Eric James Steiner was arrested Tuesday night at his Meridian home. Police have not released the name of the victim, but say she had been shot to death with a handgun. Her body was found in the bathroom of the home.
Meridian police say two children — a 17-year-old girl who is an exchange student and a 4-year-old boy — live in the home but weren't there at the time of the shooting, though they were at the residence when Steiner was arrested. Both children were uninjured. Meridian Police Chief Tracy Basterrechea says the exchange student is now staying with a coordinator from the exchange company, who is notifying her family.
