MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (News Release) – Around 9 a.m. today, April 8, Mountain Home Police Department and Elmore County Sheriff's Office responded to Walmart in reference to a report of a possible shooting that occurred in the parking lot. When officers arrived on scene, a victim could not be located.

As a precaution, Walmart was locked down so officers could search for any victims or possible suspects, none of which were located. A search was conducted of the parking lot and surrounding areas to no avail. Several witnesses in the parking lot and inside Walmart stated they did not see or hear anything suspicious. An investigation continues as to the identity of the anonymous caller.

“We take all calls of this nature seriously no matter what the circumstances are,” said Police Chief Nick Schilz. “We are very thankful that this incident was false.

“Investigators will investigate thoroughly and when the identity of the caller is located, he/she will be held accountable for their actions.”
