Quest For New Gooding County Jail Continues

The quest for a new county jail in Gooding County continues.  The current jail facility in Gooding needs replaced according to county officials and a solution to replace it may be getting closer. 

There will be an informational meeting tonight in the Wendell High School auditorium for those wanting to find out more about a proposed facility on the south side of Wendell.  Officials will be presenting their plans for a proposed 150-bed facility to be located in a former restaurant along North Frontage Road.  Officials say the current proposed plan would cost up to 8-million dollars and would be funded by private investors then leased back to the county at about $1.15 million dollars per year.  The meeting will start at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening.
