BUHL, Idaho (KLIX) – County search and rescue teams pulled a man from a truck after the vehicle rolled into a canyon Monday afternoon outside of Buhl.

The man was trapped inside a dump truck that rolled off the edge of a canal road when the dirt gave way, said Lori Stewart, spokeswoman for the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office. The 10-wheel dump truck fell about 300 feet into the Salmon Falls Creek Canyon just before 4 p.m. The driver is identified as Daniel Connelly, 56, of Parma.

Air St. Luke's landed at the bottom of the canyon so medic crews could climb to the driver trapped in the truck who was conscious and alert. The Magic Valley SORT team and Twin Falls County Search and Rescue rappelled to the truck with battery-operated equipment to free the driver.

Rescue crews were able to pull Connelly from the truck at around 7:15 p.m. and flown to a Boise hospital.
