What Would You Do? 10 Idaho Animals You Would Want as a Pet

What would you do? What would you do if you could have any wild animal from Idaho as a pet? To be clear, you can not do this, as wild animals are very dangerous, plus many are illegal to have as pets, but if you could have one, which one would you want? In this scenario, we will assume you can tame it and have the room to keep it, but what would you want? Would you go for cuteness and practical, or go for something big and fun?

Having A Moose For a Pet

Having a moose as a pet would be fun but difficult. They take up so much room and would eat a decent amount, but the thought of being able to ride one or show off your pet moose would be pretty cool. This could never happen for real, with moose being mostly untrainable, but in this situation, a tamed moose as a pet would be very cool. The only question about this one, is where do you keep a moose? It can't go in the house, a pin seems unlikely and it could escape if in a pasture. You would need a big yard.

A Wolf Would Be A Good Pet

Wolves have been known to make good pets, as long as they are well trained and taken care of. They are essentially like a bigger huskie that howls a lot more. This one would be more practical than others on the list, as they are like a big dog, and a wolf would be soft to cuddle with, fun to pet and show off. I doubt you'd ever have to worry about someone trying to break into your house with a wolf guarding you.

Have A Grizzly Bear as a Teddy Bear

Having a bear as a pet would be fun and a lot of work. They would need to eat plenty, need a big yard or area to play, and take a big shovel to clean up after. I have heard of people having bears as a pet and the thought has always intrigued me. If properly trained, it would be cuddly, fun to wrestle with and the same as the wolf, nobody would want to mess with you. They always look so cute, plus would be a great way to stay warm in the winter curled up with one of these big fuzzy guys.

A Trained Wolverine Sounds Awesome

Maybe this is the X-Men fan in me, but having a wolverine around sounds like an awesome idea. You could even name it Wolverine or possibly Logan. They are some of the most vicious animals in the wild, but to have one trained and as a pet would seem like a dream for any X-Men fan. Even if not a fan, just to have one around, would be fun. It is more practical size-wise, but those claws would do some damage around the house or yard. It may not be the most cuddly, but it is a freaking wolverine.

Fishers Are Cute, But Would It Make A Good Pet?

Fishers fall into the same category as wolverine for me, as they are practical size-wise, but known to be vicious, have sharp claws and sharp teeth. Housing one might be difficult, as finding a good habitat for one wouldn't be easy, or you could have it in the house and take the chance of the furniture being torn to shreds. Even if tamed, things will still get destroyed I am sure. They are extremely adorable to look at though.

Porcupines You Can't Pet, But Could Have as a Pet

Porcupines would not be cuddly, easy to pet, or be able to be kept in the house for obvious reasons, but they are pretty darn cute, and that is enough reason alone to be included on this list. A porcupine wouldn't be too high maintenance and would be fun to have to waddle around in the backyard.

Can You Handle a Beaver?

Beavers are animals you don't see often and are pretty adorable. The problem with having one would be needing a place for it to swim and potentially build a dam. That would take a decent amount of room for a big pool and land for it to roam around. You would need to invest in wood as well. Seems to be pricy, but still something I would want.

For Cat Lovers Maybe A Lynx

For those that are cat lovers, maybe a lynx is more your style. This one fits a more prototypical pet. While yes it is not a normal house cat, the size is more practical, the species fits and it would be mostly the same as a normal cat. Precautions would have to be taken, and the diet might be a little different, but overall this one would be doable.

Skinks Make Great Pets

While not as exciting as others on this list, having a skink makes sense and it is a pet you can have. Not everyone can have an animal with fur or needles, where a skink would make sense and be much easier to take care of and house. A good-sized tank, some bugs, and you are set to go. There are some beautiful skinks in Idaho, including the western skink. Not everything has to be big or overthought, and a skink fits perfectly as a pet some would want.

American Bald Eagle: America's Pet

For obvious reasons, even more so than any other animal on this list, owning a bald eagle is not and will not ever be possible. It would, however, be amazing to have one. Imagine people coming over and showing off your American pride with your pet bald eagle. It is one of the most majestic birds in the world and would make for an awesome pet if you could manage it. Picking a good name would be tough though, as it would have to have a fantastic name.
