Right now may not be the best time to go see the Shoshone Falls, but it is a good time to see them. The weather has been pretty great, there is plenty of water going over to cause a nice mist, and you probably feel like you need to get out of your house anyways. The only problem is this coronavirus pandemic. I'm not going to say it is a good idea to drive to the Shoshone Falls and get out to look at the waterfalls. I wouldn't want to touch the hand rails or be crammed on the overlook with other people. It would be a shame for your social distancing to be for nothing because you touched a handrail.

I do think it is fine to go for a drive, and in my house a necessity, around town. You don't even have to get out of your car to enjoy some of the great sights around the Magic Valley. We went for a Sunday drive to the Shoshone Falls and it was busy. The money booth was open so you do have to pay to get into the park. We opted to do a slow drive-by in the parking lot. You can feel the mist on your face as you drive by and hear the roar of the water. Hopefully that mist was only waterfall water and not some random person's sneeze. Other people did a better job distancing themselves by parking in the upper lot or even at the top of the canyon to see the falls. You can also get a good view of the falls from the north side of the canyon. Drew Nash posted some great shots on Facebook giving us a great alternate view to the waterfall.

That brings me to your other option to see the Shoshone Falls if you are more 'quarantined' than just social distancing. You can see a live video feed of the Shoshone Falls anytime. The feed doesn't have audio so you won't hear the roar of the water and you won't feel the mist on your face, but it still gives you an idea of what is happening outdoors.
