TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A BASE jumper injured his leg when jumping off Perrine Bridge Thursday.  The Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office resounded to the call a little after noon. The man jumping was from Florida and packed his own chute, but Deputy Sheriff Stacy Gorrell does not know how many prior jumps he has done.

Gorrell said the jumper sustained a compound fracture to his upper left leg and was transported to a hospital.

"He was very lucky he was able to just end up with a compound fracture," Gorrell said.

The deputy spoke to the jumper and the man said his chute lines were tangled and caused him to steer toward the cliff. The jumper said he tried to get control above the tangle and to get back into the water but did not make it.

As Gorrell came onto the scene, he told KMVT that he was notified that people loaded the jumper onto a pontoon boat and extricated him out of the area.

The Twin Falls Fire Department responded as well as Magic Valley Paramedics.

An air ambulance was called just in case but he was transported to the hospital by the ground ambulance.
